Meetings Industry Advocacy Hub

The meetings industry provides billions of dollars to the global economy, stimulating job growth and providing jobs for millions of people. Face-to-face meetings reinforce the solid human connections critical to driving business growth. The Events Industry Council champions the economic and social value of the profession and believes that industry leaders should also be its strongest and most vocal advocates.

Events Council launched the Meetings Industry Advocacy Hub, in partnership with Voices in Advocacy®, to engage, educate and activate meetings industry professionals. The Hub is an online vehicle that enables supporters anywhere in the world to sign up to support the global meetings industry around coordinated responses to issues, alerts, positioning and messaging. Meetings and events are important, not just for the professionals who work in the industry, but for everyone who understands that face-to-face connections and human connections are critical to both driving and helping move businesses forward, a point driven home recently during IMEX America 2014.

Bill McDermott, Global CEO of SAP, the world’s largest business software company, spoke via satellite to Kevin Olsen, President, One Smooth Stone where he advocated for the importance of the meetings and events industry saying, “Your industry is at the forefront of driving growth in the global economy.”

Advocacy is a joint effort and the Meetings Industry Advocacy Hub invites all interested industry supporters to get involved.
