Events Industry Council features the 2018 Hall of Leaders inductees

Recognising industry leaders Corbin W. Ball, Henry S. Givray, Deborah Sexton and Edward Liu

Washington, D.C. (25 September 2018) — The Events Industry Council continues the tradition of celebrating the best and brightest in the events industry with their Hall of Leaders awards programme recognising four new inductees in 2018. These inductees will be honoured at the 2018 Hall of Leaders and Pacesetters awards celebration on 16 October 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada, during IMEX America.

The Hall of Leaders has been a symbol of industry excellence, achievement and inspiration, welcoming hundreds of pioneers into its ranks over the years. These four inductees have demonstrated the forward-thinking and innovation that shaped the events industry into what it is today.

Corbin_BallCorbin W. Ball, CMP, CSP, DES, MS, Corbin Ball & Co., was nominated by Attendee Management, Inc. Corbin is an international speaker, consultant and writer helping event professionals worldwide use technology to save time and improve productivity. With 18 years of experience running international technology meetings, he transitioned to become a highly acclaimed speaker. His writings have appeared in hundreds of national and international publications, to include U.S. News & World Report, Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and USA Today.

Corbin is the only person to receive both MPI’s International Chapter Leader of the Year and MPI’s International Supplier of the Year and has been named one of the “25 Most Influential Persons in the Meetings Industry” five times by MeetingNews and Successful Meetings magazines.

Deborah Sexton
, President, DLS & Associates and former President and CEO, Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) was nominated by PCMA.

In her more than 12 years with PCMA, Deborah furthered the organisation’s dedication to inspiring the business events community with unparalleled educational programmes, senior-level networking opportunities and must-attend events on a global scale.

Deborah also served as president of the PCMA Education Foundation and publisher of PCMA’s Convene magazine, and under her leadership, PCMA more than doubled its membership and revenue, as well as expanded its global reach and cultivated dynamic leadership at the Board and Foundation levels. During her tenure, the Foundation more than tripled its support for scholarships, research and education programmes.

Henry GivrayHenry S. Givray, Chairman of the Board, SmithBucklin, was nominated by the AMC Institute.

Henry served as SmithBucklin's Chief Executive Officer for 13 years. Under his leadership, he established SmithBucklin as an industry leader in the association meetings and events arena. He transitioned from his role as President and CEO in 2015 and now serves as Chairman of the Board for SmithBucklin.

Prior to serving as CEO of  SmithBucklin, Henry served as chairman, president and CEO of CourtLink Corporation. He also earlier served as president and COO of Giga Information Group. Earlier in his career, he held management, marketing and consulting positions with Interactive Data Corporation, Ernst & Young and Xerox Corporation.

Henry's career achievements include fulfilling his vision and dream to make SmithBucklin a 100-percent-employee-owned company, development of his engaging presentation, “Leadership’s Calling®,” his receipt of  the Destination Marketing Association International Foundation's Spirit of Hospitality Award, his receipt of the 2008 Samuel B. Shapiro Award for chief staff executive achievement by the Association Forum of Chicagoland and his listing as one of the 100 most influential people in the tradeshow business by Tradeshow Week.

Edward LiuEdward Liu, PBM, Group Managing Director, CEMS, was nominated by the International Association of Exhibitions & Events.

Edward was dubbed by Singapore’s Strait Times as “The Exhibition Man,” and has served as President of the Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (SACEOS), on the Board of Directors of the International Association of Exhibitions & Events, as President of the Asian Federation of Exhibition & Convention Associations (AFECA) and as Advisor, Exhibition Industry for the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).

In addition to professional accomplishments, Edward is active in his community. His involvements include initiating the formation of Residents Committees (RCs), serving as Patron of the QCCC, recipient of the Pingkat Bakti Masyarakat (PBM) national award and his decoration as “Chevalier (Knighthood) of National Order” by the Ivorian Government’s Foreign Minister Mr. Youssouf Bakayoko.
